The R2R start-up solar laboratory comprises everything you need to go from materials to tested and packaged devices. We install at your site and show you how to make OPV and perovskite devices and how to IV-test, lifetime test and image your device using LBIC for accurately finding the active area allowing for efficiency determination. The R2R start-up solar laboratory includes all in the package, R2R coater (the TR2RC or the RLC), Solar simulator (ISOSun), laser imaging (Basic LBIC), substrate, electrodes, active inks, and encapsulation materials.
Laboratory Roll-to-roll machines
Whether you choose the larger TR2RC that is suited for laboratory preparation of single devices and modules and for small prototype series and technology proof of concept, or you choose the RLC which in its basic form is a sheet coater with a small laboratory foot print where functionality and complexity can be gradually added, you get an excellent setup for preparing many different kinds of printed electronic.
The TR2RC is a mobile (on wheels) desktop sized R2R coating and printing machine. It is constructed in durable stainless steel and aluminium and will outlast any working environment. Web widths of up to 152 mm can be handled (practical printing/coating width is 100 mm). Optionally web lengths of up to 100 m can be handled (depending on substrate thickness) and optional equipment include surface plasma/corona treatment, UV-curing unit, tension control for unwinder/rewinder, hot air oven). Web speeds can be up to 5 m/min (depending on drying). The TR2RC bridges the entire gap from small devices to serially produced small prototype modules. All this comes with a very small laboratory footprint. All you need is point ventilation, a walk in fume cupboard or our optional extraction cabinet on top.
The RLC is the creative starting point where films can be made using your materials and inks through a wide choice of deposition techniques (slot-die, flexo, knife, bar, spray etc.). The system is easily expanded to full R2R (roll-to-roll) processing by docking the printing unit onto a R2R platform. Drying of the films can be achieved using hot plate, integrated forced air, inert gas, UV or IR. The Research Laboratory Coaters are turn-key systems starting from the simple single axis slot-die coating set-up where functionality and complexity can be gradually added.
ISOSun Solar Simulator
The ISOSun solar simulator provides homogenous light simulation over large area with easy implementation of filters, neutral density filters, cooling and wiring. The ISOSun solar simulator enables reproducable testing of large PV devices up to 30 x 30 cm2. The large experimental compartment with ventilation fans enables good access with easy wire routing for external measurement devices. An integrated temperature sensor and photo diode provide instant data acquisition and make adjustments possible.
Light beam induced current (LBIC) enables fast high resolution mapping of the photovoltaic response of solar cells over very large areas from single cells to modules. It is the ideal tool for the measurement of photovoltaic active areas, identification of defects, shunts, inactive regions and coating errors. Ultrafast laser scanning enables device testing in seconds over large area, compared to hours in ordinary XY-stage system. The low-noise system is immune to external light input and available in single wavelength or multiwavelength configurations.
